Sweet 16 basketball 2010 – The Sweet 16 for the NCAA basketball tournament in 2010 rapidly approaches and is coming up later today. There are many surprise teams that have won two games so far in this NCAA tournament. These include St. Mary’s the mid-major upstart. The Washington Huskies who are talented but underachieving all year long and are now peaking at exactly the right time.
I can’t remember the last time so many double digit seeds made it to the 2nd weekend of the mens basketball tournament.
Then there are the big-time number 1 seeds Kentucky Wildcats who are winning by 30 points a game and the Syracuse Orangemen who have been almost as equally dominant winning by about 20 points per game.
Then there is the upstart Xavier with their star guard Jordan Crawford, who dunked on Lebron James last summer, who are generating lots of headlines. And there is the steady and at many times spectacular Kansas State team that has the typical big 12 toughness and what it takes to get to the final four.
Then there’s Butler who has been in the ncaa tournament many times and is a fairly high seeded number five but draws a tough matchup against Syracuse. Then there’s Baylor as their highest seed in school history ever at number 3 who is now facing the underdog upstart St. Mary’s team although I believe Baylor will be victorious. My cousin will be glad because he’s a Baylor alum.
The perennial powerhouse Duke is a number 1 seed again and they should have a fairly decent cakewalk over a Purdue team that is without their star player who is injured. West Virginia is a powerful team at number 2 but they have suffered an injury a broken ankle to their guard and so they will probably fall to the talented and peaking Washington Huskies.
Tennessee has been a surprise because of all the player losses, suspensions, and players being kicked off the team midseason because of arrests. They limped into the tournament as a number six and have played well to get to the Sweet 16 but will probably fall against Ohio State.
Cornell has maybe been the biggest surprise because they have gone farther than any Ivy League team in about 20 years. But Kentucky is too much on a roll and I believe now that Kansas is out of the way, doing their semiannual early loss to a weaker team dance they do, that this is Calipari’s year to finally cut down the nets and win it all.
And finally we have the Michigan State Spartans who have surprisingly gotten to this point as a number five seed playing the number nine seed Northern Iowa giant killers who defeated Kansas on the last-second three-point shot that may be the defining shot of this ncaa tournament 2010.
Should be amazing Suite 16 basketball 2010 because this year’s field is one of the most exciting with an excellent mix of favorites and double-digit underdog seeds still alive in the second weekend of the NCAA men’s Sweet 16 basketball tournament 2010.
